Steady Growth in the Trucking Industry Since 1975

Hensley has a 40+ year history of continuous growth and success. Mendelson Egg/Hensley was founded in 1975 by Chub and Jan Hensley. The operation consisted of a single truck and trailer. Putting in truckers' hours — full days, late nights, holidays, and weekends — Hensley slowly began to be synonymous with timeliness, integrity, and dedication.

In the early 1980s

Running refer trailers, we went where and when our clients needed us to, building an especially strong presence in the Upper Midwest. In the early 1980s, our name was transitioned to Hensley, Inc. to better recognize our growing family ties. Around this same time, we began signing on owner/operators looking to drive for a thriving, flexible trucking company. By 1985, we had four trucks, 27 trailers, and 19 owner/operators all driving for the Hensley name.

In 1987, Chub's son, Darrin, began working in the family business.

In 2000

Darrin took over, and the business has continued to grow and diversify ever since.

Today

Our trucking organization operates with three locations — an office, a fully equipped maintenance shop, and a pallet/cross-docking facility. We run 30 of our own trucks, 125+ trailers bearing the Hensley name, and maintain strong working ties with 10 owner/operators. We continue to run mainly refrigerated trailers and specialized vans, although our operating lanes now span the entire lower 48, with a strong presence remaining in the Upper Midwest, and South.

Over the years our growth has been steady and true.

We attribute that growth to the commitment of our drivers' strong family and office staff support. At Hensley, we do not just deliver loads; we deliver timely and safe shipments that are professionally executed by our silent heroes — the men and women behind the wheel.
